Aunt Marie,Uncle Dan and this oldie are having dinner at Gram & Gramps house. Remember Grams cooking and baking? as you always said"awesome".

  Matt,you were a" jewel" God placed in their crowns. Remember your visits to a house built with love.It was a place where dreams came true. Matt, I'm sure they miss the smell of your red hair and your stinky sneakers!!,but I'll bet they get the smell of the soap and shampoo you always used.Will write to you again next Christmas and will give you all the family dirt!! We miss you dear heart and hopefully you miss us.

I came across your website in Memory of your beloved son, Matthew,while doing a search for Walter Gramlich, the grandfather of a very dear friend of mine who passed away this week.  Walter Gramlich, was 100 years old.  Here I was searching for information about a man who lived a very long life and instead came across the website of your son, Matthew, whose life was taken at such a young age.  I spent some time looking at all that you have put together to honor his life and his memory and I can't help but feel a tremendous amount of sympathy for you.  I am so sorry for your loss.  I can not imagine the pain you must feel every day and how difficult it must be for you to come to terms with losing your dear son.  In looking at all that you have posted on this website it really seems as if he was a special, creative and wonderful young man.  I am sorry his H.S. did not permit you to accept his diploma with the rest of the students...I join the many others who strongly disagree with their final decision.  It is my hope for you that you find peace and that you have many friends and family to support you through your difficult days.  May you find strength in God and in knowing that your son is in a wonderful place with his Grandmother and together they are both looking down on you and are with you everywhere you go.

I have just found Matthew's site today.  I am amazed at his art work!  Such talent!  It is sad, isn't it, knowing you won't get to see another creation from his hands.  I feel that way about my son, Jacob, who also was a talented artist in the class of 2006.  Now, I imagine the beautiful sunsets as a sort of gift from him - like art from heaven.

I read with sad interest the story about graduation.  Our son died from bacterial meningtus in March of '06 just five days after his 18th birthday.  The class of '06 had also lost a classmate eleven months before Jake.  They didn't even offer us an honorary diploma.  The pricipal didn't want to do anything for graduation and we told him we understood that it was a celebration (but our children's accomplishments should be celebrated, also) and we didn't want to take away from the other families' joy.  The classmates went ahead and did what they wanted to honor their friends during graduation, anyway!  It was awesome!

I am so glad to see you also have a scholarship for Matthew.  We did the same to honor Jacob.  It is based on creativity and learning style, rather than GPA.  Jacob was also awarded the creative writing award after his death in memory of the crazy, funny stories he wrote.  Another sort of thing in common with Matthew is that Jake worked in a pizza restaurant and was also a hard worker at it, making it a fun time for his buddies, too.

Matthew is such a handsome young man and I know his birthday in new eternal life in heaven was amazing, but difficult for you who love and miss him so much.  I will keep you in my prayers.  May peace continue to come into your hearts and lives.
